Shows Attended: Vancouver, 26 March 2004 -- my first,
but definitely not last, experience with the boyz
Why NEBCM? I guess you could say that it was
destiny and a coincidence that I'm with NEBCM. I was looking for fellow Yukoners on the Metclub Poor Posting Me forums and
happened to be contacted by a being holier than thou..jk. Richard! But in all honesty it was a being that had connections
to the inside of a MetClub Chapter and we clicked right from the start.
My show experience in Vancouver on March 26, 2004 -
out of this fricken world! Louder than any show I'd been to in my home town of Whitehorse, Yukon. I was also there alone in
the city of Vancouver in which I had not had a chance to visit outside of "Just passing through." This was those memory remains
moments in my life. Being a drummer for 15 years and up until this point in my life I hadn't truly appreciated Metallica for
what they are and continue to be for music all around. I walked to GM Place about an hour and a half before the doors were
scheduled to be opened. As soon as I got across the bridge past Tinsel Town, the anticipation grew heavily as I saw GM Place
and the vehicles pulling into the parking lot a block away from the stadium. Once I approached the front of the stadium which
I remembered from two nights earlier where I saw the Canucks beat the L.A. Kings 1-0, I went up the stairs to locate my gate.
Once I reached the gate, I waited patiently as I knew that I was very early and the time I thought it would take me to get
to the stadium on foot was a little quicker due to the fact that this was my first time seeing Metallica and Godsmack let
alone metal concert. Everything at that show was great, pyro, the tunes, etc. To see all that pyro that they ignited
just for ONE was outstanding and if I had a chance to live it all again I would without question. Godsmack got things started
off and did a damn fine job at revving up the crowd for Metallica. My hats off to them big time. But, as good as Godsmack
is, once the boys in 'Tallica took to the stage with BLACKENED I knew I was in for the time of my life and I wasn't mistaken
by that at all! Long story short, this night was the best night of my life.
A Little About Me You obviously know by now that
I live in Whitehorse, Yukon. I'm 23 (Feb. 13/05) and traveling out of this place can be cheap sometimes, but most of the time
it's a nice dent in the wallet/bank account, I've been playing the drums as I said above for more than half of my life and
I'm still going strong and getting stronger with my chops. You can never stop learning things on a set of drums. NEVER!
I don't play with anyone consistently but am doing some recording sessions with a guy here in the Horse....fast punk rock
with a little ska-reggae influence. Yes, I can do a punk rock beat without a double kick pedal, but I can do it
with my Tama Iron Cobra PTW9000 pedals. It just requires more attention to coordination and that is what I am learning
at this time.
I work at the local movie theatres here which are owned by <a
href="http://www.landmarkcinemas.ca" target="_blank">Landmark Cinemas of Canada I didn't get to premier SKOM which was
a real drag but I know that it would only appeal to a specific group of people and that's fine. Although I am an assistant
manager, I still take orders from a being higher than myself and the manager and so it was written that SKOM would not
be done in the Yukon. I'll wait patiently until it's out on DVD Jan. 25/05.
NEBCM recruited me and I can't wait to get to know everyone better
and want to do a huge shout out to Richard for replying to my post about 'Tallica Yukoners. Much hetero-love man! SEE YOU
ALL AT THE NEXT GATHERING IN VANCOUVER!!!
Cool Metallica Stuff I Have - I own a pair of Lars'
signature sticks. I bought them, but they still kick ass for making metal!
